South Pacific Aid Management is establishing a dedicated First Response Unit, to be based at Lope Lope, Vanuatu.
We will train and equip a team of people who will be able to respond instantly to disasters and emergency situations, be the caused by nature or man made.
At the Lope Lope site, the airport or the shipping wharf, we will have container/modules full of emergency response requirements, various dedicated container/modules will contain:
- Rescue equipment and thermal imaging to assist in clearing, chopping, ropes, ladders, bracing, lifting and digging, creating safe environments and searching for missing persons
- A power generation unit with fuel, also mobile solar and wind generators with battery units for fast small scale deployment
- Tents, tarpaulins, poles and ropes, blankets, waterproof clothing
- A first aid clinic with first aid supplies to treat minor injuries and to provide minor medications
- A mobile surgery unit for carrying out emergency serious medical procedures until patients can be moved to a major hospital for full and proper care.
- Fresh water & fresh water purifiers
- A module for dangerous or toxic waste collection
- A bio-toilet treatment module to provide toilets and to maintain a clean environment
- A food Module with non-perishable foods that can be quickly distributed to those in need and to maintain the rescue staff.
- A rest module, with seating and beds for the staff to recuperate.
- An engineering module. Stores of tools and equipment, but also some basic engineering equipment for maintenance and repair as necessary
